Movies Watched [February 2011]

I watched some pretty good movies last month, for the most part. A couple genuine classics (Charade, The General), some great old comedies (Blazing Saddles, Slap Shot), hilarious new comedies (Anchorman, Black Dynamite, Cedar Rapids) and a bunch of movies that came out last year (Blue Valentine, The Town, etc.). There were only two movies that I genuinely didn’t like, Piranha and 9 Songs, and, fittingly, they both got reviews (links below).

On the disappointing side, I watched 19 movies last month yet only reviewed four of them. That’s gotta change… my goal for March is to review at least half of the movies I watch. Although to be fair I did do quick reviews for a handful of these movies.

Anyway, February was a good month on my end! Here’s the final tally:

In order of viewing:
23) 28 Days Later
24) Piranha
25) Knight and Day
26) Flipped
27) Anchorman
28) The Town
29) The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet’s Nest
30) The Fountain
31) Charade
32) 9 Songs
33) The Fighter
34) Black Dynamite
35) House of Flying Daggers
36) Blazing Saddles
37) The Education of Charlie Banks
38) Animal Kingdom
39) Slap Shot
40) Cedar Rapids
41) Blue Valentine
42) The General

How about you guys? What have you watched recently?

Damn, dude. That’s a big chunk of movies right there. YES for 28 Days Later and Black Dynamite. Itching to see Animal Kingdom myself and it’s high time I revisited Slap Shot (even though I think it’s pretty weak when the Hansen Bros. aren’t around).

Now get to writing that Fountain review. Always interested in what folks have to say about that one.

What’s sad is that I probably watched half of those movies in just a few days during the big Snowpocalypse blizzard here. Animal Kingdom was good, but it took a while to really get anywhere. I liked Jacki Weaver’s performance, but I’m not sure if she deserved a nomination. I’ll probably do a quick review of it soon.

As for The Fountain, man, I don’t even know where to start with that. I definitely liked it, and I thought I was doing a good job keeping up with it, but the last 10-20 minutes just threw me for a loop. I need to watch it one more time at least so I can really gather my thoughts…
