Best of the Month: This is a really tough call. Excluding rewatches, my favorite film of the month was a tossup between Incendies and 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days. Both of these films blew me away in completely different ways, and they are going to be hard to top in this year’s project.

Worst of the Month: The Hangover Part III is not just the worst movie I watched last month, it’s the worst movie I have seen all year. I don’t think I laughed even once, and this is coming from someone who didn’t think the first sequel was all that bad. I don’t know why I wasted my time with that drivel. At least Death Wish 3, another bad film, was a complete blast to watch. Glad that one finally made it to Netflix.

How about you? What was the best film you watched last month?

I still didn’t see The Hangover 3 but having seen all those opinions claiming it’s really bad I’m wondering can it be worse than Anchorman 2….it sounds like it’s boring, Anchorman 2 was just unbelievably stupid and boring is worse than that.

And I thought Hangover III was going to be better with the likes of Goodman joining the crew. Such a sorry state of affairs with those films 😦

Really need to see Taxi Driver. One of these days I will.

Not a bad month for movie watching for you Eric, plus you’ve got the games & a whole TV series completed too, impressive. I really want to see The Trip, that looks like a hoot! And @ Jaina, glad I’m not the only one who hasn’t seen Taxi Driver, ahah.

Happy Out of Sight held up, been so long I hardly remember a thing, overdue a rewatch! Great to see you loved Taxi Driver, it’s one of my all-time favorites.
4 Months: so realistic, and just brutal at that age, must scar her mentally for life, in terms of trusting.
    Hangover 3, glad I skipped that one, so bad it’s g…bad… 🙂

Out of Sight seems like the kind of film that would be fun to revisit every few years or so. Hope you enjoy it the second time around.

I’m still reeling from 4 Months. That’s going to be a hard one to top in this year’s project.

    Hi, Eric:

    Very eclectic choice of films.

Great choice with ‘Taxi Driver’. Not so great choice with ‘The Hangover: Part III’.
‘Death Wish’ should have ended after the first film of the franchise. Bronson seems to mutate into a potato in the films thereafter.

Great choice for a read with ‘The Black Dahlia’. A pity the film didn’t come close to matching it.

Personal suggestion for a future read. ‘The Short Timers’ by Gus Hasford. The basis for, though greatly expanded upon nexus for Kubrick’s ‘Full Metal Jacket’. A satisfying and quick read that goes beyond where the film ended. And yes, R. Lee Ermey was robbed of an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor!

    • Eric @ The Warning Sign says:

Hi Jack, yeah there is a noticeable drop in quality from Death Wish to Death Wish 3. I’m surprised the series lasted as long as it did, but at least DW3 was often hysterical with its unintentional humor.

I feel like I should watch Black Dahlia since I read the book, but the poor reviews have kept me away so far.

Thanks for the book recommendation! That sounds like a great read.

    Impressive list of games completed.

Glad you liked Remember Me. Unfortunately, I was unable to get into it, but at least it was free (love PS+). Don’t care for any Metal Gear game after playing MGS4. I know Revengeance is completely different, but whatever.

I’ve wanted to get Prototype (1 & 2) for a long time now, but haven’t gotten around to it. A good score there. How would you compare it to say InFamous?

    • Eric @ The Warning Sign says:

Prototype has its ups and downs. I nearly quit several times out of frustration due to some horrific difficulty spikes (you can’t change the difficulty either). I did feel a huge sense of accomplishment when I finally beat the game though, and it was a lot of fun using an infected NYC as my personal playground. I bought it for $10 and feel I got my money’s worth. However, I would still give the edge to Infamous, which had a better story and also felt quite a bit more polished.

I thought season 6 of Mad Men was easily the show’s weakest but I really liked it despite its faults. Season 7 thus far has the same feel as well. I tried watching the third Hangover on HBO Go the other day but stopped watching it quickly. Just awful.
