Kung Fury was awesome! So is Hellboy and Inglorious Basterds, but Kung Fury was just awesome to see all of the weird tweaks and things they did to make it look like some forgotten 1980’s gem on VHS. Especially with the tracking static. And all of that cheesy 1980’s b-movie goofiness. It gave me flashbacks of movies I haven’t seen in years.
I just have Army Of Two for 360, but haven’t played Devil’s Cartel. I found it to be ok, but a bit faceless after playing through.
Yes! Kung Fury was a blast. Kind of felt like a film version of Far Cry: Blood Dragon, which was awesome in its own right.
Devil’s Cartel was my first experience playing an Army of Two game. It’s really buggy at times, but I had a lot of fun doing co-op.
A lot of love for Inglourious Basterds, is it your favorite Tarnatino film?
Glad you managed to see Kung Fury, it’s intentionally over the top so you can’t really knock it for that. I wouldn’t watch it often, but a fun ride. The animation sequence, and the phone scene, were my favorite moments. I think I might have located the origin of the giant: Stormlord (1989) (C64) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Z5-88XP1x0
Hmm, that’s a good question. I would probably still put Pulp Fiction at #1, but Inglourious Basterds isn’t far behind.
Nice find on Stormlord! I’m pretty much in agreement on Kung Fury. That could have easily been a disappointment since 80s homages are getting oversaturated these days, but it was really well done. So cool it was released for free, too.
So many good things on this list! Silicon valley is a favourite, it’s great to watch people that are more socially awkward than you are! And Archer, ah so good. Great post!
Hey, thanks! I think Silicon Valley has become my favorite comedy currently on the air — so good!
